How to Apply for an Umrah Visa with the Latest Requirements!

Performing Umrah is a dream for many Muslims. However, before departing for the Holy Land, proper preparation is essential—and one of the key requirements is the Umrah visa.

Today, applying for an Umrah visa has become easier with online services and assistance from authorized agents. Even so, pilgrims still need to understand the requirements, fees, and procedures. To avoid confusion, here’s a complete guide on how to apply for an Umrah visa.

What Is an Umrah Visa?

An Umrah visa is a permit issued by the Government of Saudi Arabia for Muslims intending to perform Umrah in the Holy Land.

It is different from a Hajj visa or a regular visit visa, as it is specifically for the Umrah pilgrimage. Therefore, it cannot be used for other purposes such as working, studying, or long-term residence in Saudi Arabia.

According to the latest regulations from the Saudi Ministry of Hajj and Umrah, the Umrah visa is valid for up to 90 days from the date of issuance. To obtain it, pilgrims must meet certain requirements.

Requirements for an Umrah Visa

To get an Umrah visa, you need to prepare several documents as required by the Saudi Government. Common requirements include:

  • Family Card (KK)

  • National Identity Card (KTP)

  • Proof of round-trip flight tickets

  • Proof of hotel reservation in Saudi Arabia

  • Proof of Umrah visa fee payment

  • Marriage certificate for married couples

  • Valid health insurance policy

  • Yellow card as proof of meningitis vaccination

  • Recent passport-sized photos (4 x 6, white background)

  • Birth certificate for pilgrims under 17 years old

  • Completed Umrah visa application form

  • Passport valid for at least 6 months before departure

  • Mahram letter or guardian authorization for female pilgrims under 45 years old

Steps to Apply for an Umrah Visa

Applying for an Umrah visa involves several stages, usually assisted by licensed service providers or travel agents registered with the Indonesian Ministry of Religious Affairs. Here are the steps:

1. Register with an Authorized Umrah Travel Agent

Choose an official travel agency licensed to organize Umrah and registered in the SISKOPATUH application (Ministry of Religious Affairs system). The agency will guide you in preparing documents such as passports, IDs, and vaccination proof.

Authorized agents ensure that all requirements comply with the latest regulations. Always verify the agency’s credibility to guarantee a safe and lawful process.

2. Book Accommodation

Before applying for a visa, pilgrims must now book officially licensed accommodations through the Nusuk platform, authorized by Saudi Civil Defense (Difa’ Madani) and the Saudi Ministry of Tourism.

Hotels booked via Nusuk must meet specific criteria for the visa to be approved. Key points include:

  • Must have official licenses from Difa’ Madani and the Ministry of Tourism.

  • Must align with the registered travel program.

  • If booked via third-party companies or directly with hotels, confirmation must be validated through the Nusuk platform.

To verify whether a hotel is registered on Nusuk, visit the Saudi Ministry of Tourism’s official website: https://mt.gov.sa.

This verification must be completed before the visa is issued. Without hotel confirmation in the system, the visa cannot be processed.

3. Submit MOFA Authorization

Once registration is complete, the agent will help submit a MOFA (Ministry of Foreign Affairs) authorization. This is the initial approval required before the visa can be issued. MOFA processing requires complete documentation to avoid delays.

4. Apply for the Visa

After MOFA and hotel reservations are approved, the visa application continues with all necessary documents (passport, photos, tickets, accommodation proof, etc.).

The application must be submitted via the official Nusuk platform (https://umrah.nusuk.sa), which streamlines visa applications, travel planning, and accommodation arrangements for international pilgrims.

5. Visa Issuance

As of September 1, 2025, Saudi Arabia implemented new rules for Umrah visa processing. Pilgrims must now wait at least 48 hours after system approval for the Ministry of Hajj to verify accommodation in Makkah and Madinah.

Processing times may vary depending on Saudi regulations and document completeness. To avoid last-minute issues, apply for the visa well in advance of your departure date.

Cost of an Umrah Visa

When using an official travel agency, visa costs are usually included in the full Umrah package. Package prices typically range from IDR 25–35 million, depending on airline, hotel class, facilities, and duration of stay.

Most pilgrims prefer package services since all documents are managed by the agency, ensuring convenience and compliance with requirements.

That’s the complete guide on how to apply for an Umrah visa according to the latest rules. By understanding the steps, requirements, and costs, you can better prepare before embarking on your pilgrimage.
